Plan events and meet new cultures as a volunteer on Funen!

Who are we?

Dansk ICYE (International Cultural Youth Exchange) is a non-profit exchange organisation primarily for young people aged 18-30. We send Danish youngsters abroad for exchange and voluntary work and host international volunteers here in Denmark. Our goal is to give young people from all over the world the opportunity to travel and experience new cultures.

The local branches of Dansk ICYE organise events for both Danish and international volunteers, as well as other members of the organisation. This means plenty of fun and cultural events that bring people closer together, both here on Funen and nationally.

Some of the events we’ve previously hosted in the Local Branch of Funen include our international food and culture club, ice skating, making pottery, Christmas socials, and celebrations of international holidays like Chinese New Year and Día de Muertos.

We are based in Odense, but we also organise events across Funen, including in Kværndrup, Svendborg, Kerteminde, Vissenbjerg, and more.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for volunteers who want to help plan and host events for the Local Branch of Funen. We hope you:

• Have a passion for creating cultural events or other gatherings that bring people closer together.
• Thrive in a creative environment and are eager to turn ideas into action.
• Are willing to contribute practically, such as by shopping, cooking, or decorating the venue before an event.
• Want to meet young people from around the world.
• Can dedicate around 5 hours (or more if desired) per month when an event is coming up.

What will your tasks be?

• Planning and organising events for both local and international members.
• Coordinating event logistics and helping with setup.
• Collaborating with other volunteers to ensure smooth event execution.
• Contributing your ideas and creativity to event planning.

As a volunteer in our local branch, you’ll get:

• Plenty of opportunities to participate in local and national events, where you’ll create memories and build networks, such as local branch events, general assemblies, organisational weekends etc.
• The chance to develop your skills in event planning, recruitment, PR, and organisational work.
• Skill building through our own workshops as well as workshops organised by other organisations in Denmark and across Europe.
• Opportunities to take on more responsibility if you wish.
• A valuable addition to your CV.
• Depending on the nature of the event, we often offer free transport, meals, and accommodation for volunteers involved in Dansk ICYE’s events. This applies to volunteers who have become members of the organisation, which costs 75 DKK annually.

You can join us whether you’ve travelled with Dansk ICYE or not. What matters most is that you want to be part of the local branch´s community, where we work together to create both small and large (cultural) experiences for volunteers and young people participating in one of Dansk ICYE’s programmes, as well as for other members of the branch and the public.
