The Patient Support Cafe is the place where local citizens who are undergoing cancer treatment or their relatives can come together in a safe and trusting environment for a chat and further help.

You are not necessarily a professional in the field - we will provide relevant courses. You may very well have a professional background that supports the purpose - or perhaps experience from similar volunteer jobs - but that is not a requirement.

The most important thing is that you are motivated to help others who are in great need of support.

Practically, we imagine that:

  • We start up in January / February of 2020
  • The Patient Support Café is two hours every other week
  • The Patient support café will mainly be located centrally in Ballerup (library / health center) - however from time to time in the cultural centers in Måløv and Skovlunde
  • We at the patient support café talk to citizens either one-on-one, or in smaller groups
  • You, along with other volunteers, must help plan the patent-support cafes and conduct the talks
  • You need to help create a cozy atmosphere, make some coffee / tea, etc.
  • You are a student, unemployed or retired, so that we can - if possible - hold the patient support café in the late afternoon (eg 3 pm - 5 pm) - if not we can move the time slightly

We expect you to be:

  • Sweet, kind, presentable and welcoming
  • Good for listening and asking helpful questions
  • Motivated and willing to help minimum for one to two years as training / training is included
  • Minimum can speak Danish at a sufficiently comprehensible level

An “interview” will be included in the start-up process, which will assess whether you are suitable.
