For more than ten years, the Global Action Swaziland Group has supported the democracy movement in the monarchical kingdom of Swaziland (or Eswatini to which the King has renamed the country) through development projects and advocacy. Our partner is working to organize and mobilize the people for political democratic reform. Our support must strengthen the democratic organization and mobilization of members of youth organizations, the trade union movement,. the women's movement mf. In Swaziland, political parties are banned, and civil society therefore takes over in many ways the role they should have played.

The Swaziland group consists of 5 active members. We are going to apply for a new project with our partner, SUFD, for March. The project is applied for at CISU and will be approx. 1.7 million crowns. Therefore, we need new forces that, together with SUDF, can form part of the work on the formulation of the new project. In addition, we need to complete our current project, and we have a great desire to increase our information work and advocacy with target groups in Denmark.

We therefore need curious and committed new group members to assist with all the work in the group.

What do we expect of you?

We expect you to have the opportunity to set aside some time to actively participate in the group's work, especially during the period from mid-January to mid-March 2020. You should be very open to visiting our partners in Swaziland in connection with project preparation and the start-up visit after the summer holidays 2020.

We hope that you have knowledge and interest in Africa and / or development work, democracy, popular social movements and a very political approach to development work. We do not expect you to know everything about project formulation, because you will learn that by doing it with us others and our partners, just as we have an internal training program in Global Action.

As an active in Global Action, you gain hands-on experience with project development and implementation and the opportunity to work closely with social movements in Swaziland. The work in the group is unpaid - but the expenses are paid in connection with travel to and in Africa.

We are a group of very different people who also do much other than project work and are involved in many of the other activities of Global Action - both social and professional. The focus of all our project work is that it is based on a strong professional foundation, and we often try to try new ways in relation to more traditional development work.

We support our partners in strengthening their capacity so that they can mobilize the people of Swaziland more and demand their socio-economic and political rights and democracy. We have the coolest partners who do not fight for a democratic Swaziland without a certain risk. For the first two months of 2020, count on a couple of weekend meetings as well as shorter writing sessions each week. A short visit to Swaziland is also planned for the writing process.

We invite interested people to write a few words about yourself and why you would like to join our group by December 20th. We will then invite you and others interested to a meeting where you can meet with us and we can tell you more about our group's work. Information meetings will be held during the start-up phase and there will also be some reading.

Interested parties will be invited to an information meeting on the group's work and developments in Swaziland.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.
