Myanmar Committee - Who are we?
The Myanmar Committee is a working group under the YMCA and the YWCA of Denmark's international committee "Global Communities". YMCA and YWCA in Denmark are part of the two world organizations YMCA and YWCA, and are thus part of the world's largest youth organization.

The current Myanmar project stems from the YMCA and the YWCA's previous international project "Minglabar Myanmar". Since the end of the project at the time, we in the Myanmar Committee have worked on how the collaboration between YMCA and YWCA in Denmark and YMCA Myanmar can be developed, and how we in collaboration create a relevant, attractive and sustainable project.

In the project, we work to strengthen young people's involvement in civil society. The project is based in Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar. Here, young volunteers meet for workshops, social activities, trainings and the like. In addition, the ambition is to work for exchange between Myanmar and Denmark, so that we can learn from each other to an even greater degree. The UN's global goal for sustainable development sets the framework for the project's activities and exchange. The goal of creating partnerships for action forms an umbrella for the partnership, under which the project deals with precisely the themes that concern the young people - in Myanmar as well as in Denmark. Therefore, topics such as gender equality, less inequality and quality education are some of the topics that are on the agenda in the future project.

We are looking for economic shark !
We are looking for volunteers for our committee who want to help develop the YMCA and the YWCA's partnership with the YMCA in Myanmar. In the committee, you get the opportunity to influence how the partnership should take shape and develop in the coming years. In addition, you get insight into an exciting development project, where we as associations and volunteers learn from each other, and form an understanding of our different cultural backgrounds.

Specifically, we are looking right now (among other things [1] ) for the committee's new economic shark. As an economic shark, you will help run the project - in collaboration with our partners in Myanmar. That is why we are looking for one who:

  • Feel like being part of an exciting selection where the community is highly valued
  • Is good with numbers or wants to challenge himself in that area
  • Can keep track of the partnership's budget
  • Is responsible for ongoing financial reporting in collaboration with our partners

You will have the opportunity to shape your own tasks, and to immerse yourself in the areas in which you are particularly interested.

You get
As a member of the Myanmar Committee, you become part of a community where cosiness and the social are highly valued.

In addition, you get:

  • Opportunity to contribute to and shape an exciting development project
  • Opportunity to - if circumstances allow - visit our partners in Myanmar
  • Opportunity to participate in various competence development courses
