Aarhus Vinterherberg is an offer to homeless migrants with legal residence in Denmark. At the shelter, the homeless can have a good meal, a warm bed and a cozy. relaxed evening in good company. At Vinterherberget there is room for 22 overnight guests during the coldest months of the year. Aarhus Winter shelter is a so-called emergency shelter, it is therefore only possible to stay at the shelter during the evening/night. The doors open at 20.30 and closes again the following morning at 8.

As a night shift, you arrive at 23.30, after which your task is to be present at the shelter. The front door is closed and locked at night so no new guests arrive during the hours you are on duty. Together with a volunteer colleague, you ensure peace and order overnight. You will be provided with a bed. At 7 o'clock you wake up the guests, serve breakfast and coffee and make sure everyone is out and the door locked at. 8. A shift ends approx. 8.30.

As a volunteer, you can always get in touch with a rear guard. Alcohol and illegal drugs are not allowed at the Winter shelter.

We expect:

  • That you have the time and desire to engage with the homeless
  • That you are willing to participate in the collaboration with the other volunteers in an open, honest and positive way.
  • That you respect agreements entered into
  • That you can take 1-4 shifts a month

It is also an advantage if you can communicate in English. However, this is not a requirement.

We offer a unique opportunity to help people in a difficult situation. At the same time, you get the opportunity to become part of a fantastic community of volunteers.

Would you like to volunteer? So do not hesitate to get in touch. We are looking forward to hear from you.
