Many families with disabilities are challenged on time and transport, to and from leisure activities. That is why we are looking for YOU who for a period can follow a child once a week. The goal is partly that children and young people who have not previously had the opportunity to go to sports, now get the chance and partly to make the child self-transporting or to find a permanent arrangement.

IFEL specialsport is therefore looking for committed volunteers from the Capital Region, Region Zealand and the Funen area to be a companion for a child or young person with special needs over a time-limited period of 3-6 months.

The task is to accompany the child to and from a sports activity, and possibly be there during the child's sports lesson, if needed. You can follow a child by car, by public transport or by bicycle - we match you with the specific child's needs and potentials.

You will be an active part of a project around the company of children and young people with special needs. And as a volunteer, you will be well dressed for the task. Therefore, as a start, you will have a guiding conversation with our project manager before you meet the family in question and the child you are to be a companion for. We will follow you from start to finish to make sure you, along with the child, get the best experience.

We realize that it is not only fun and exciting to be a volunteer with us, but also rewarding.

Therefore, as a volunteer, you will:

  • Get your transportation costs covered.
  • At the end of the employment period, our beautiful and personal volunteer certificate will be issued.
  • Get a personalized recommendation for your LinkedIn profile.
  • And last but not least, have the opportunity to be part of a community of volunteers of all ages.

We think you can nod recognizably to:

  • You can commit to volunteering for 3-6 months.
  • You have the option of transporting the child to and from a sports activity (via public transport, walking, or by car).
  • You have the go-ahead and want to make a difference for children with special needs.
  • You are patient and good at accommodating children's differences.

Send your application to us by filling out the form 'contact organization'.

IFEL specialsport is a voluntary NGO that builds a bridge between children and young people with special needs and the sports association life, so that everyone has the opportunity to play sports and become part of a community. We do this by advising families on what sports opportunities their children have, while at the same time guiding the association life in how to build the best possible training up to exactly this target group.
