Are you passionate about making a difference for particularly vulnerable young women attached to residences, shelters or the like? Then it's just you we're looking for. Right now we are looking for stable, open and curious mentors who will be mentors to young fellow human beings and make a huge difference. We are starting new mentoring courses in 2021!
'PIFT - a mentoring offer for young women' is a mentoring initiative for vulnerable young women in the City of Copenhagen. As a mentor, you become an important adult friend and role model for a vulnerable young woman, and through this support her in moving forward in life. At the same time, you contribute to shaping a mentoring effort, with a special focus on vulnerable and mentally vulnerable women. The young women in PIFT are between 15 and 30 years old and tumble with one or more challenges of a different nature - some tumble with very difficult topics. Common to them is that they tend to turn challenges inward, and therefore often stand very alone with the problems. This results in poor mental well-being and in many cases loneliness. It is precisely in these situations that a personal mentor can play an indescribable role.
In PIFT, you get the opportunity to develop your professionalism, through e.g. free mentoring courses, the opportunity to become part of a mentoring group, access to tools for use in the mentoring process, sparring and gain relevant experience for your CV.
Who are you?
As we work with a vulnerable target group, we make some demands on our mentors, e.g. to age. The young women in PIFT need robust mentors who can share their life and work experience.
What are you saying yes to?
As a mentor, you agree to be matched at least once with a young woman and subsequently to meet with her at least 4 hours a month for a period of 6 - 12 months. It is important that you have the time and profit to stay in the relationship throughout the mentoring process, as the young women do not need a failure in the form of the mentor interrupting the process. In addition, all our mentors must participate in an initial telephone interview and a preparatory mentoring course of approx. 3-4 hours duration.
