What does it mean to be volunteering in the sewing workshop?

Being a volunteer in the sewing workshop provides a unique opportunity to help vulnerable people to have their clothes repaired, sewn or knitted. This is absolutely essential, as the residents of Center Sjælsmark often can not afford to buy clothes and therefore some have a particularly hard time keeping warm in the winter.

In addition, getting new or repaired clothing can increase residents' well-being and sense of dignity. You will also enter into relationships with people who come from many countries and who speak different languages.

We are looking for volunteers who can help carry out this task together with the Danish Red Cross, which primarily coordinates the activity.

What does the job require?

That you have an ability to listen to others and a desire to help vulnerable people.

It is not a requirement that you can neither sew nor knit, but it will be an advantage so that one can assist with help if the sewing machines do not work.

Volunteers should preferably be present 2-3 times a month, if not once a week.

The practical

Until now, the sewing workshop has been open every Tuesday from 12: 30-14: 45, but we can be flexible in date and time. However, we would like the sewing workshop to be open at least once a week, as there is a great need for this.

You are very welcome to contact us and have a non-binding conversation with us.

We look forward to hearing from you!
