Repair Cafe Odense is the first one in Denmark to join the movement. We are a non-profit organization run by volunteers. We are passionate about sustainability and about the right to repair. We believe in the strength of a community, which is exactly what we have been building for the past 5 years, and we intend to continue doing it.
What makes us special is that in a world where everything is disposable and can be extremely rapidly and cheaply replaced, we choose to either repair or give items a new life (with different upcycling projects).
We are looking for volunteers with different skill-sets: sewing and small clothes repair, electronics repair, bike repairs, administrative tasks such as registering guests, making coffee for guests and volunteers, helping set up everything before an event, help with danish translations for our website and social media channels. The most important aspect however, is having a positive attitude and curiosity, all the rest can be taught.
If you join RCO you become a cherished/valued member of a growing community, you can learn how to repair different items (in case you are interested in that), learn about sustainability, participate in fun events in Odense and on Fyn and meet people from different cultures (we are a very multicultural bunch). If this post has made you curious, we invite you to join one of our events or if you would like to see more about what we do, visit the RCO website (https://www.repaircafeodense.dk), or facebook.
