Do you speak Hungarian? Shifts at shelter with Hungarian guests

We are looking for one or two Hungarian speaking volunteers for our day shelter at Istedgade 100. Our guests are from many countries, so some speak one language and some another language. Many speak either Danish, Rumanian, Hungarian, Polish, Bulgarian, Latvian or Turkish or English. 

Our organisation is called Kirkens Korshær and is a Danish helping organisation that has existed for more than 100 years now.

To be a volunteer your minium age must be 22 years old. No maximum age :-) We have volunteers in all ages from 22 and up 80.

We imagine you:

• Would like to help us 3 hours every week or every 14 days at a weekday from 8.15 pm.  to 11.30 am, Saturdays 16.45-19.00,  Sundays from 9.45 am till 1 pm.
• Are a minimum of 22 years and eg a student, early retirement or pensioner, or somehow have time for a shift each week or every second week.
• Ready for small practical tasks such as tea / coffee making, putting together some clothes and handing out towels when the guests go for a shower.
• Wish to talk to our guests.
• Would like to help create a nice and safe atmosphere in our day shelter.

We can offer you:

• A voluntary job where you make it possible for homeless people to cover basic needs such as having a shower,  resting for a couple of hours away from street life, and allowing them to spend some time with talk and creative activities.
• Co-operation with our guests as well as other volunteers and employees.
• Opportunity to come up with your own ideas for activities you want to do.
• We have meetings (volunteers and staff) and frequent excursions to e.g. other shelters, conferences and so. You just take part in the arrangements, that you have time and interest in, and all is for free, when you are a volunteer.
