If you are homeless and are discharged from the hospital, then you will be discharged to the street. That is why the Red Cross' care center Eirsgaard offers a two-week stay with the necessary care, nursing and social work support.
We need volunteers as a supplement to our employees in their daily work. That is why our volunteers are really important to us, as they make sure that there are people in the house who can take care of the residents while they are there.
A volunteer shift at Eirsgaard can look very different from shift to shift, depending on which residents are in the house and what they need. The most important thing is that you are ready to offor a little bit of yourself and look at the house on the given day, and see what it needs. Sense what is happening in the house, what makes sense to do and where something is needed.
We need volunteers in the house on afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
We don't have minimum of shifts you need to take every month, but we would love if you would take a shift twice a month.
Right now we are looking for volunteers at the care center to:
- Offer support and care
- Help with cooking (it is completely legitimate "just" to heat something up on the stove),
while interacting with the residents - Grab a cleaning cloth or a vacuum cleaner when cleaning might be needed
We are looking for volunteers who:
- Are independent and responsible
- Feel like interacting with the residents
- Thrives with picking up where it is needed
- It is an advantage if you can also speak English, but not a requirement
- Want to work with homeless people

- Pippie, who is our daily leader's dog, is at work every day. In addition, the citizens often also have their dogs with them when they stay at the care center, so you must be able to tolerate - and like also - dogs as a volunteer at Eirsgaard
