Who are we?
Dansk ICYE (International Cultural Youth Exchange) is a youth organisation for people aged 18-30. We work to break down cultural barriers and foster peace across borders through exchange programmes and volunteer work.
Our four annual camps bring together:
- Danish youth preparing for or returning from exchange programmes.
- International youth on exchange in Denmark.
- Active members of Dansk ICYE.
The camps are packed with activities, community, and unforgettable experiences. As part of the kitchen team, you play a vital role in making these camps special.
Dansk ICYE is looking for both a coordinator and team members for our kitchen crew: Restaurant Intercult. Whether you love planning or simply want to lend a hand, there’s a place for you!
Coordinator for Restaurant Intercult
As the coordinator, your responsibilities will include:
- Planning meals that account for allergens and dietary preferences.
- Creating shopping lists and coordinating purchases.
- Recruiting other kitchen volunteers.
- Attending planning meetings before the camps.
- Collaborating with the Camp Committee and the secretariat on logistics.
As the coordinator, you’ll have a central role in both the planning and execution of the kitchen work. You’ll ensure everything runs smoothly — both before and during the camps.
Team Member of Restaurant Intercult
As a team member, you can join in as you are and be part of the crew. Your tasks will include:
- Preparing and cooking meals with other volunteers.
- Contributing to Dansk ICYE’s green profile by making vegetarian and vegan dishes.
- Helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the kitchen.
Team members focus primarily on the hands-on work during the camps, helping to create delicious meals for participants.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for volunteers who:
- Are interested in participating in one or more camps per year – you don’t have to join all four.
- Can delegate tasks and maintain an overview in the kitchen.
- Have a passion for cooking and are excited to try recipes from around the world.
- Don’t need to be an amazing cook – as long as you’re passionate about food and eager to learn, you’ll fit right in!
- Can attend planning meetings before the camps (if interested in the coordinator role).
What we offer:
- A key role in creating community and great experiences for participants.
- Hands-on experience organising and running a kitchen.
- Flexibility in the scope of your tasks – you decide how much you want to contribute.
- A unique community with young people from around the world.
- Opportunities for skill development through our own workshops as well as workshops hosted by other organisations in Denmark and across Europe.
- Plenty of chances to participate in the organisation’s other activities and events throughout the year, such as the general assembly, organisational weekends, and local branch events etc.
- Depending on the nature of the event, we often offer free transport, meals, and accommodation for volunteers involved in Dansk ICYE’s events. This applies to volunteers who have become members of the organisation, which costs 75 DKK annually.
Practical information:
- The camps are held four times a year, with 40-80 participants per camp.
- As a coordinator, your work involves both planning before the camps and hands-on tasks during the camps.
- As a team member, your focus will primarily be on meal preparation during the camps.
