As an adviser in Open Counseling, you will support users in solving everyday-related problems based on a help for self-help approach, so that in the long term the users can solve the same or similar problems themselves or at least with less support from us. It can be anything from understanding letters to filling in various application forms for public authorities. We do not expect you to already have a great deal of knowledge about navigating the Danish system, but that you are quick to learn and want to help people get back on their feet!
Your tasks will include:
- to help users understand difficult letters from public authorities as well as private companies and possibly respond to these
- to support users in filling in relevant application forms for municipal departments, the Danish Immigration Service, the Ministry of Immigration and Integration i.a. relating to. residence permits, individual benefits, citizenship etc.
- to support users in contacting various administrations or private companies regarding their inquiry.

If you can speak languages other than Danish, that is an advantage.
A little about us:
Den Frie Rådgivning is a voluntary social association that offers free counseling for vulnerable people through our two efforts, PROP and Open Counseling. We work with help for self-help, so that users can eventually solve their problems themselves. Open Counseling is aimed at users who do not have the necessary knowledge, resources or, for example, language skills to be able to function in society on an equal footing with other users. Advising users is often about solving current problems or challenges and then equipping them with knowledge about the way our society is structured. It is volunteers who advise users on understanding official letters, filling in various
forms, as well as contact with authorities, private companies, etc. In this work, written and oral contact with various administrations in Odense Municipality and the Danish Immigration Service constitutes a significant part.
