Do you want to make sure Danish society lives up to equal rights for everyone? In the Anti-discrimination group, we work with campaigns and projects that politically and culturally work towards a more equal society. We believe activism comes in many shapes and that change can happen in many ways. That is also reflected in our work which ranges from demonstrations to movie screenings, community dinners and creative workshops.

Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke (ActionAid DK) is a Non-Governmental Organization working for a more just and sustainable world. Our department in Aarhus is located in Mejlgade 53 in the house GLOBUS, a platform and hub for activists. Our projects and working groups are run by our volunteers in collaboration with a small secretariat of 2 part-time employees and 2 interns.

Our anti-discrimination working group works to address and challenge discrimination perpetuated on the ground of race, ethnicity and/or religion. The main activities of the group are:

  • Addressing structural discrimination in Danish society
  • Raising awareness and promoting dialogue on how discrimination might take place
  • Exploring and analysing personal biases
  • Challenging the dominant narrative on refugees and newcomers through cultural events and gatherings
  • Developing partnerships with like-minded organizations present on the local scene.

As a member of the Anti-discrimination group your main tasks will include:

  • Arrange and execute group meetings twice a month
  • Make sure that the tasks are divided among the members of the group
  • Make sure that everyone is feeling engaged and heard within the group
  • Communicate on regular basis with the other coordinators in MS and the secretariat.

We offer the following:

  • A large network of passionate Danes and internationals from different backgrounds
  • Experience with event management, activism, and project coordination
  • Become part of a bigger movement of social change and activism
  • Opportunities for skills and capacity development through workshops, talks etc.
