Getting a network in Denmark, meeting others and helping less fortunate

Dear volunteer

Thank you so much for wishing to help. Being at The Social Laundry could also be a place where you can practice Danish, if you are in the proces of learning Danish or get a network in Denmark.

The Social Laundry is at Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. We wash for shelters, churches, restaurants and other places. 

The volunteer jobs at the laundry is being part of this, so it could be folding towels, while talking to the other volunteers while listening to a podcast or such. There is also a small workshop for sewing and several other tasks you could take part in. 

You will have to chose a certain day of the week, that you can come all weeks or every second week. -Of course you don´t come if you have a holiday or examns or so, but a weekday every week or every second week, that you can commit to most of the times :-)

The shifts will be 2, 3 or 3½ hours depending what fits best into your life. 

They start at 9 or 10 or 11 or 12 am. 

You will meet the staff and other volunteers and also we have "praktik" in The Social Laundry". This could e.g. be someone who needs to be a while with us before he/she feels ready to enter the jobmarked. 

It is a very cozy and nice place with a kind and caring atmosphere. 

Kirkens Korshær is a private organisation that helps those less fortunate. All income from the laundry goes into the social work for the less fortunate.
