As an activity volunteer at YFUK's Social Work Crisis Center, you help create meaningful experiences together with our mothers and children. You can either become a permanent activity volunteer in the house, or an on-call volunteer who supports new families in getting to know the local area.

(You must be at least 23 years old).

As a volunteer at the YWCA's Social Work Crisis Centre, you get:

  • The opportunity to make a big difference for some beautiful children and cool women
  • Meaningful and rewarding experience as a volunteer
  • Close collaboration with our children's specialist employee, who acts as a daily sparring partner
  • Mutually rewarding experiences where you are something to others

In the House:

  • Here it can be activities such as playing music, building with LEGO, drawing, baking, dancing - only the imagination sets the limits!
  • Mother does not have to participate if it is ok with the volunteer, but she must be nearby so that the volunteer can always ask her to come and be around the child

Outside the house:

  • Mother must participate in the activities outside the crisis centre
  • Here you must have the opportunity to come as needed/arrange with the family, which is planned with the staff
  • It can be to show mother and child the local area - where are the local playgrounds, swimming pool, shopping facilities, metro station, etc.

You undertake to:

  • 1 shift per month for two hours at weekends or by appointment. (The weekend shifts are at 10.00 - 12.00 or 14.00 - 16.00)
  • Clean child certificate
  • You must consent to us obtaining your criminal record
  • Mandatory participation in half-yearly, local volunteer meetings

Our crisis center is located at a secret address in Copenhagen and is easily accessible by public transport. We expect you to want to be a volunteer for at least 1 year.

Finally contact us via the "Contact the Organisation" button, if it might be of interest to you.

Who are we?
YWCA's Social Work Crisis Center is an independent institution under YWCA's Social Work.

The crisis center has special knowledge and competence in relation to both Danish and foreign women exposed to prostitution-related violence - including physical violence, sexual assault, rape, harassment, persecution, stalking, as well as violence/threats of violence from perpetrators.

The staff at the crisis center have unique language and cultural skills and a great deal of knowledge of social work efforts that aim to reduce the harmful effects of violence and prostitution. This means that the women can return to a life where they can support themselves and thrive.

The crisis center also receives pregnant women and women with children up to 14 years of age. At the Crisis Center there is room for 6-8 children, depending on age. The women must basically be able to look after their children themselves, and take care of shopping, cleaning and laundry themselves - of course with the possibility of support/guidance from the staff. is Denmark's leading volunteer job portal.

Volunteering is for everyone - we welcome all applicants regardless of gender, ethnicity, nationality, social background, sexual orientation or religious background.
