For more than 10 years, volunteer network friends have supported vulnerable and formerly homeless people in Copenhagen. We are now starting the activity in Frederiksberg, so that even more people can have a good life in their own home.

For most people, it is a matter of course to be able to sleep safely in your own bed, to have good friends, family and networks around you, and to be able to withstand ordinary hardships in life. But it's not like that for everyone. And certainly not for people in homelessness and mental vulnerability who struggle with complex problems.

In the fight against loneliness and social isolation, volunteer network friends offer their time and presence, and build bridges to communities and good experiences. Network friends are matched 1:1 based on interests, values and practical conditions and meet approx. every 14 days to do activities together.

WeShelter is currently looking for 1-2 volunteer managers who will help start the offer of volunteer network friends up in Frederiksberg.

As a volunteer leader in the activity, you will become part of a strong team and help create a good environment for the volunteer network friends - so that they can support people in homelessness and vulnerability.

Your most important tasks and areas of responsibility as a volunteer leader:

  • Holding conversations with new participants and matching expectations about network friends is the right offer for them
  • Participate in the recruitment and training of new volunteers, and create a good framework for ongoing sparring
  • Ensure a good match between participant and volunteer
  • Be an important front player in the good dialogue with contact persons from hostels, hostels and other business partners
  • Solve some administrative tasks (registration and documentation for statistics and follow-up, etc.)

All in close dialogue with the consultant from WeShelter

We are looking for you who:

  • Is good at creating relationships, is stable, patient and accommodating, and has a certain degree of life experience
  • Is good at keeping an overview, includes and has a sense of coordination
  • Likes to take responsibility, collaborate and is proactive, and wants to be part of a management group
  • Motivated by making others thrive and seeing people and relationships flourish
  • Can allocate an average of 15-20 hours per month (incl. courses, meetings, etc.)

Relationships mean everything in voluntary work, and good relationships based on trust and security take time to build. We therefore prefer that you have the desire and energy to get involved as a volunteer for at least one year - and preferably longer.

We offer:

  • An exciting volunteer job where you make a difference for the most vulnerable in our society and help break down isolation and loneliness in Frederiksberg
  • Personal and professional development via introductory courses, four-evening and network meetings on e.g. abuse, communication, homelessness, conflict resolution and much more
  • Close sparring with consultants from WeShelter - as a volunteer you are never alone, and we are here for you
  • Leadership experience and opportunity for sparring with other volunteer leaders in WeShelter
  • Together with more than 200 volunteer colleagues, you become part of one of Denmark's oldest organisations, which for 130 years has created positive and meaningful communities through voluntary social work.

Does that sound like something for you?

Then send us an application via the 'Contact the organisation' form. Write a little about yourself and your experiences and not least your motivation for being a volunteer leader at WeShelter in Frederiksberg.
