We are currently looking for more committed volunteer homework helpers for our cozy homework help in Ry.

Many children with a refugee or ethnic minority background do not find they can get the right help with their homework at home, and therefore free homework help makes a huge difference, so that they have a place to go where they are guaranteed to be able to get support and help to learn, understand and cope with their own homework.

The homework help can take place either during school hours or in the afternoon/evening, and it is agreed together with the student, teacher and the volunteer so that it suits everyone. This is typically 1-2 hours a week, where the student and the homework helper work together on the homework. As we have many bilingual children who may have difficulty reading, writing and, not least, understanding the Danish language, it is especially the Danish subject that needs help. Here, a homework helper can be of great help by thoroughly explaining what is meant by the various words and phrases. In addition, all volunteers in homework help help to create a safe and motivating learning environment for the children.

We are looking for you who:

  • Wants to make a difference and be a positive role model
  • I think it's fun and exciting to learn from yourself
  • Is patient, welcoming, open and friendly
  • Have time to help 1-2 times a week after school

We collaborate with DRC Danish Refugee Council, and as a volunteer with us:

  • You gain valuable experience with voluntary work, cultural meetings and working with children and young people, and thus you also get the opportunity to develop your pedagogical skills
  • You get a unique opportunity to develop yourself personally and professionally at the same time
  • Do you become part of a friendly and strong team of volunteers and at the same time also part of a large volunteer network team in DRC Danish Refugee Council, which is ready with support, sparring and advice.
  • You will be well dressed with a thorough introduction and training
  • Do you get the joy of seeing students grow professionally and personally
  • If you are offered opportunities to participate in free courses and workshops, which we offer to all our volunteers, which can provide new knowledge and useful tools
