Randers Crisis Center provides accommodation for women and children who have been abused. The center has space for 14 women and their children. Here they can receive help and support to eventually move back into their own homes.

In 2025 we will start an effort at the shelter and here we need good people - maybe it's you?

The idea is that every Tuesday our volunteers will come to the shelter and do activities with the women and their children. The idea is always to cook dinner together and in addition we throw ourselves into small creative pursuits, make a fire, play games and play. Sometimes there is also the opportunity to go on larger trips or arrange something special at the center, for example a trip to the beach or a pampering evening. It depends on what the volunteers and the women think would be fun.

The goal of Bindeleddet's activities is that if a good relationship is formed between a woman and one of our volunteer mentors, we form a mentorship. This helps to ensure the woman has support and a positive network for her and her child – even when they no longer live at the shelter.

However, we only form mentorships if the volunteer and the woman want to.

As a volunteer, your tasks will be:

  • To attend Randers shelter 3-4 Tuesdays a month between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM.
  • Help initiate activities, excursions and communal meals in collaboration with your volunteer colleagues.
  • To listen and accommodate others' problems and challenges without necessarily having to solve them.
  • Dedicate at least one and a half years to the task as a volunteer in Bindeleddet.

What can we offer you?

  • You will become part of a cozy community with other volunteers who are passionate about making a difference for abused women and children.
  • All your expenses related to your volunteer work will be covered – and in a mentorship, you and the woman will receive pocket money for activities.
  • Every three months we hold supervision with a psychologist, where you and the other volunteers will be able to overcome any challenges in connection with the volunteer work.
  • Experience with battered women and children and insight into everyday life at a shelter.

At Bindeleddet we are always open to good ideas and alternative activities and ways of approaching things. That is why you can also help – in collaboration with the women and the other volunteers – to shape the volunteer work so that it makes the most sense for both the volunteers, the women and their children.

We don't expect you to be a superhero from the start with many years of experience in the field. That's why we spend a lot of time in the beginning to get you well into the volunteer job, so that you are comfortable with the task. And then we are convinced that you will quickly become a superhero.

Your age, background, experience and gender are irrelevant in this job. We know that everyone can be something for someone.

If this sounds like something for you, please contact us via The contact form "Contact the Organisation"

We hope to hear from you!

Bindeleddet støtter unge i udsatte positioner.
