Volunteering at Istedgade 100 is a mixture of assisting our guests with practicalities and building up meaningful relationships. Some of our practical services include; shower, laundry, mobile phone charging, and distribution of clothes.
Typical tasks include:
- Preparing coffee/tea and sandwiches/noodles
- Washing clothes
- Talking and playing games with the guests
- Basic counseling and problem solving
- Helping to keep the shelter clean & tidy
- Overseeing the shower queue
If you choose to volunteer with us, you will be part of a wide and varied volunteer base from all over the world. The majority of our guests are from Eastern Europe, so it is not required that you are able to speak Danish.
The well-being of our volunteers is a priority to us and therefore we prefer volunteers over the age of 21. You will have the opportunity to come along to team meetings, social events, trips to other social services in the city, and training sessions.
