Unge For Ligeværd (UFL) is an association for young people with special needs over the age of 18 with clubs throughout the country.
In Aarhus we have a club that is in need of volunteers. If you want to help create a spacious and safe club community for young people with special needs, then become a volunteer in our UFL club in Aarhus.

You will make a big difference for some wonderful young people who have experienced being outside the community for large parts of their lives.

Your tasks as a volunteer:

  • Participate in club nights on Mondays + some coordination and planning around the individual evening with the other volunteers. The club nights usually take place on Mondays between 7-9 pm.
  • Create a welcoming community, as well as a cozy and safe club, for young people with special needs.
  • To be a listener and support young people in becoming part of the community.
  • Plan activities with the young people. This can be anything from campfires, games and craft nights, cinema trips, camping trips and other trips out of the house.
  • Motivate and inspire the young people positively. You do not need to have knowledge of the target group, but you must want to give the young people some good club nights and social experiences.
  • Quietly build the young people's self-esteem and develop the young people's social and personal skills through various activities and discussions with the young people in connection with the club work.

What can we offer you?:

  • From the very first day, you help make a big difference for young people with special needs.
  • You will become part of a wonderful local and nationwide community.
  • You will have the opportunity to participate in some of Ligeværd's courses and/or at Ligeværd's conferences.
  • You will have the opportunity to use your various interests and skills in connection with club work.
  • If you wish, you can gain experience with board work both locally and nationwide, including meeting management, fundraising, accounting, etc. But it's up to you.
  • An organization and human work that will strengthen your CV.

You are the person we are looking for if:

  • You are at least 20 years old.
  • You can set aside a minimum of 1-2 evenings per month + a little for the above coordination/planning in connection with the individual club evening.
  • You are stable in your attendance as young people need predictability.
  • You are a listener, empathetic and responsible - You must be able to accommodate the challenges of young people (both cognitive and social).

Our other volunteers describe the job as meaningful and rewarding!

One of our volunteers has stated the following: "I love being part of a local offer where you can see things develop. I help plan, initiate and evaluate the activities, and together with the other volunteers I support the young people in having an active leisure life. It's fantastic" (volunteer UFL).

If you would like to lend a hand, please click on “contact the organisation”. Please write a little about yourself and why you would like to be part of the community. We will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis. You are also welcome to write or call if you have any questions about the above (This can also be done by clicking on “contact the organisation”)

We look forward to hearing from you.

A little more about Youth for Equality (UFL):
Unge for Ligeværd is part of the Ligeværd association, which works to create equal conditions for children, young people and adults with special needs.
Unge for Ligeværd has 23 clubs around the country for young people aged 18 and over.

Young people with special needs are characterised by having cognitive disabilities, etc. The young people often come from special classes, special after-school programs, institutions and residential communities. They have often had to adapt to ordinary leisure activities, where their difficulties have been exposed.

What most of our young people have in common is that they have suffered many defeats throughout their upbringing. Defeats that have had major consequences for their social lives and mean that many have withdrawn and isolated themselves. Loneliness is therefore something that most of our young members have struggled with.
The local UFL club therefore often becomes a free space where young people become part of a community where they can be who they are.

The clubs offer many different activities depending on what the young people and the volunteers in the clubs decide on. The focus of the clubs is on the young people having good experiences with like-minded people and when this happens in a safe environment, we often see a positive development in the young people.
