Hus Forbi is looking for social work students for our volunteer program

Hus Forbi is currently looking for volunteers to help run the lunch program in our café and lounge in Vanløse, where homeless and socially vulnerable people come every day to drink coffee, take a shower or do laundry, buy Hus Forbi newspapers and eat lunch.

The tasks consist of:

• Planning and shopping for lunch for about 20-30 people
• Cooking, serving and cleaning up after meals
• To be present and talk to the homeless and vulnerable people who use the cafe
• Together with employees and other volunteers in the house, help develop Hus Forbi's café and lunch program to become the best possible offer for our users.

You will become part of one of the most important homeless associations in Denmark, helping over 700 homeless and socially vulnerable people across the country. In addition, you will receive:

• Responsibility for an important task that helps to increase the quality of life for homeless people, socially disadvantaged people and Hus Forbi sellers in Copenhagen every day
• Direct experience of interacting with a number of homeless, socially disadvantaged and queer people
• Experience in planning, organizing and operating a food scheme for the homeless, socially disadvantaged and disadvantaged people
• Ongoing sparring with our employees as well as introduction and up-skilling training in conflict management and social work
• Opportunity to strengthen your CV, as well as a statement from us about your work with homeless and vulnerable people in Hus Forbi
• A community with other volunteers and employees, all of whom are proud to make a difference for some of the most vulnerable people in Denmark

Practical

You will be part of a small team with other volunteers, and we expect you to have the opportunity to take at least one shift every 14 days, between 9 am and 2 pm.
