Welcome House Dortheagården is part of DRC Danish Refugee Council
In the coming weeks we will receive newly arrived quota refugees from, among others, Congo, Afghanistan and Eritrea. The children arrive with their families and will not start school until after the summer holidays. In the meantime, they need presence, security and play in everyday life.
Volunteers from DRC Danish Refugee Council therefore arrange activities at child-friendly level – both inside and outside – and we need more hands. The activities are planned in collaboration with the volunteers and the social caretakers and can vary depending on the interests and needs of the children. The atmosphere is informal and characterized by smiles, initiative and community.
We are currently in need of volunteers who will help keep the children active during the day and afternoons – for example through play, creative activities, or short trips in the local area. The children need to learn about their new surroundings, traffic and daily life in Denmark.
It is also a great advantage if you want to do activities with children in smaller groups – perhaps painting, building with blocks, playing games or arranging outdoor games. There will be a good opportunity to come up with ideas and shape the activities yourself.
If you speak Farsi, Dari, Tigrinya or French, it is a huge advantage – but not a requirement.
