Who are we?

Dansk ICYE (International Cultural Youth Exchange) is a non-profit exchange organisation primarily for young people aged 18-30. We send Danish youngsters abroad for exchange and voluntary work and host international volunteers here in Denmark. Our goal is to give young people from all over the world the opportunity to travel and experience new cultures.

The local branches of Dansk ICYE organise events for both Danish and international volunteers, as well as other members of the organisation. This means plenty of fun and cultural events that bring people closer together, both here in Southern Jutland and nationally. 

Here in Southern Jutland, we’ve hosted events such as intercultural cooking nights, board game evenings, Southern Jutland cake table, Fastelavn celebrations, Christmas lunches, and much more. The only limit is your imagination!

Our base is in Sønderborg, but we also organise events across Southern Jutland, in places like Kolding, Gråsten, Aabenraa, Fredericia, and Esbjerg.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a volunteer to join the board work of the Local Branch of Southern Jutland. We hope you:

• Are curious to learn more about board work and want to develop your organisational skills.
• Are eager to help develop the local branch and strategise the implementation of new initiatives.
• Can contribute new ideas for the branch’s development.
• Have an eye for organisation and coordination, but it’s not a requirement—everyone can learn.
• Are willing to attend board meetings and planning sessions.

As a volunteer on the board of the Local Branch of Southern Jutland, you will receive:

• A fantastic community where your efforts are appreciated, and you’ll meet a variety of interesting people.
• Plenty of opportunities to participate in local and national events, where you’ll create memories and build networks, such as local branch events, general assemblies, organisational weekends etc.
• The chance to develop your skills in leadership, communication, event planning, recruitment, and organisational work.
• Skill building through our own workshops as well as workshops organised by other organisations in Denmark and across Europe.
• Opportunities to take on more responsibility if you wish.
• A valuable addition to your CV.
• Depending on the nature of the event, we often offer free transport, meals, and accommodation for volunteers involved in Dansk ICYE’s events. This applies to volunteers who have become members of the organisation, which costs 75 DKK annually.

You can join us whether you’ve travelled with Dansk ICYE or not. What matters most is that you want to be part of the local branch´s community, where we work together to create both small and large (cultural) experiences for volunteers and young people participating in one of Dansk ICYE’s programmes, as well as for other members of the branch and the public.
