Become a Volunteer Communications and Social Media Manager on Funen

Who are we?
Dansk ICYE (International Cultural Youth Exchange) is a non-profit exchange organisation primarily for young people aged 18-30. Our mission is to promote understanding and openness across cultures. We facilitate exchange and voluntary work programmes, sending Danish youngsters abroad and welcoming international volunteers to Denmark. The idea is to provide young people worldwide with opportunities to travel and experience new cultures.

The local branches of Dansk ICYE organise cultural and social activities for our Danish and international volunteers, host families, and local members. Some of the events we’ve previously hosted in the Local Branch of Funen include our international food and culture club, ice skating, making pottery, Christmas socials, and celebrations of international holidays like Chinese New Year and Día de Muertos. The only limit is your imagination!

We are based in Odense, but we also organise events across Funen, including in Kværndrup, Svendborg, Kerteminde, Vissenbjerg, and more.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a volunteer who wants to help develop and strengthen our communication and marketing efforts. You don’t need extensive experience – what matters most is your enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

As our new Communications and Social Media Manager, we hope you:

• Are interested in social media and communication.
• Want to promote our events and strengthen the community in our local branch.
• Have creative ideas and the drive to bring them to life.
• Are eager to develop your skills in marketing and social media strategy.
• Can dedicate time that varies depending on the period – there’s more to do before and after events, while other times are quieter. On average, it amounts to about 1-2 hours per week.

What will your tasks be?

• Planning and creating posts for social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
• Producing engaging content (e.g., posts, stories, and ads) to promote our events.
• Developing and implementing a marketing strategy in collaboration with the board of the local branch and Dansk ICYE´s secretariat.
• Attending team meetings and contributing ideas to reach more young people.

• Depending on the nature of the event, we often offer free transport, meals, and accommodation for volunteers involved in Dansk ICYE’s events. This applies to volunteers who have become members of the organisation, which costs 75 DKK annually.
