Café Backstage is currently recruiting  volunteers in Rudersdal and near by cities. Many young people experience mental and social difficulties for various reasons, and they do not feel that they fit in anywhere, and they feel very much alone. This is why we've started Café Backstage.

Cafe Backstage is an initiative of volunteers who have experienced mental challenges themselves, and our slogan is that "everyone can experience these challenges, but no one should stand alone."

Many young people today experience anxiety, stress, depression, self harm, eating disorder, social anxiety and many other types of vulnerabilities. It is often associated with a sense of shame and loneliness - we would like to change that.

We believe that community and openness about mental vulnerability can help young people and give them a safe-space with room for everyone. The point of the cafe is to be a place where young people between 14-20 years can meet, have fun with creative activities,  and meet new people combined with presentation and mirroring in others who are experiencing challenges.

The cafe is held every Tuesday from kl. 17-21 in Mariehøj Center (Øverødvej 246, Holte).

Become a volunteer

To be volunteering in the project, you must be familiar with mental challenges in everyday life. Your personal experiences will give the young people a sense of being with an equal, and it gives them hope to see that others who have had a hard time now live a meaningful life with surplus to help others. This is called peer-support.

You need be between 18-35 years (+/-) to volunteer, so the young people can feel connected and mirroring you and the other volunteers.

Your function in the cafe will be to help the development and communication about the café, to start activities with the young people, support the young people and maybe share your own experiences. Are you interested, please contact us - we look forward to making a difference for young people with you.

The project is a collaboration between volunteers and "Bro til hverdagslivet"  with financial support from "Ung i Rudersdal". is Denmark's leading volunteer job portal.

Volunteering is for everyone - we welcome all applicants regardless of gender, ethnicity, nationality, social background, sexual orientation or religious background.
