Be part of something bigger than your lectures. Build your résumé and skills. HDFql now invites (international or local) students with excellent computing skills and/or flair for identifying and reaching out to potential new users/organizations around the globe (or locally).

HDFql - the easy way of managing HDF5 data

HDFql was launched in 2016 by a team of interdisciplinary experts. After living in three different continents and a dozen countries, we are building roots in the coding capital of Denmark: Aarhus. HDFql is currently being used by scientists, students, universities and organizations around the world (e.g. to power electric vehicle strategies, to crunch data in renewable energy, and to deliver breakthroughs in science, biotechnology and engineering). Because we aspire to advance data-driven discoveries, HDFql is free (non profit).

Perks:

  • Building your CV with a solid project
  • Escaping the Scandinavian winter
  • Free lunches (or beers!)
  • Being part of something big which helps drive science and data-driven advances

Potential tasks for you as a student are flexible and would be based on your skills and interests. This could include programming or reaching out to relevant departments (who use HDF5) at Copenhagen and Aarhus Universities; or it could be crafting a strategy to engage with international universities or organizations to drive awareness and usage of HDFql (perhaps reaching out to your own uni back home if you’re an international student). You don't have to be good at everything - just at one thing.

Please send us a few words about yourself on why you’d like to join HDFql. If you have a CV, you are most welcome to send it along!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHY HDFql: HDFql is the first tool to manage HDF5 with a language as easy & powerful as SQL. HDF5 is the preferred standard for high volume datasets that rely on diverse datatypes, and is used by scientists and industry around the world (from NASA to Daimler). Allowing users to both manage and store data long-term, HDF5 supports an unlimited variety of datatypes at market leading speeds.
However, the APIs for handling HDF5 are notoriously complex. HDFql transforms an antiquated approach to HDF5 into a simple, intuitive and fast solution to help users manage data blazingly fast with unfailing performance. An ideal companion for organizations prioritizing machine learning, high-performance computing and data-driven discoveries.
