Who do we help?

In Kenya, there are many young people on the street who do not have the opportunity to return to school or get an ordinary job. Emmanuel Arts is a small organisation in Slagelse that helps a handful of these vulnerable youngsters away from the street, and gives them skills that they can use further in life, within arts and crafts for example. Help put your mark on the organisation in Denmark, and make a difference that can be felt immediately. With us there is no intermediary or other administration over, and our work is therefore of great importance for the project and for the vulnerable young people in Kenya. We currently have 5 young people between the ages of 20 and  helping us.

Right now, we are looking for active volunteers for the board, who would like to make a difference, by helping to develop the Danish association, so that our work with the youth can continue and be further developed.

Possible tasks for the board members:

As part of the board, you will be able to work with the following tasks, depending on where your interests and competences lie:

  • Develop the association, using strategy development, execution of action plans, objectives etc.
  • Create marketing and communication materials - both for potential sponsors, guests at our events, support members and the volunteers.
  • Be in charge of voluntary management and engagement, team building and community - both among the volunteers and on the board.
  • Be event manager on larger or smaller events, eg. Markets, lectures, concerts, dining events, Game Night, lotteries, karaoke etc.
  • Help find funds, make evaluations, write minutes, and make budgets.
  • Make budgets, bookkeeping and annual accounts (We are a small association, so the economy is easy to understand)

We offer

Competency:   As a board member you will be able to develop your competencies within organizational development, including among other things; to make action plans, strategies, campaigns, leadership and much more. In addition, the association is a member of Friviligcenter Slagelse and of CISU, both of which offer exciting competency-developing courses that are free or relatively cheap for members to participate in.

You will also be able to strengthen your CV and get a letter of recommendation if desired.

Community: We put great importance to the intenal environment of the board and think it should be fun to be a board member. We are members of different age groups who enjoy the time and talk very well together, and learn a lot from each other. We always have a little light food or snacks for the meetings, and like to have a nice Christmas dinner or similar during Summer.

Work from home: The association is placed in Slagelse, but most of your work can be done from home and when you have time yourself.

Expectations for you

Your skills:

  • You can take responsibility for the tasks you undertake
  • You are determined and can meet deadlines
  • You can be an advocate of the association's work and purpose

  • Home work: Approx. 2-5 hours a month
  • Courses and other meetings: Approx. 3-4 hours 1-2 times a year.

Contact us for a informal talk on how you can contribute to the association and how we can make your life a little more meaningfull!
