Backstage on the base is looking for volunteers
Backstage at Basen is a voluntary project, where young volunteers offer community, activities and cosiness for young people at the "Basen" school in Birkerød. The young people at the base are between 14-21 years old. They have mental and social challenges in the form of eg. autism and anxiety, and they therefore demand communities that can accommodate their challenges and give them the social contact and daily activities that they otherwise feel isolated from. This is exactly what Backstage offers - and we need you as a volunteer.
We have agreed with the Base that the volunteer-based community for the young at the Base will take place after their school one afternoon every two weeks from 15-17.30 at the base in Birkerød - which day has not yet been determined. You will be 3 volunteers at a time to do activities and fun with the young. It can be board games, bead plates, football, role-playing games, cooking and anything else - whatever you want as a volunteer and the young people on the base.
We will also do larger social activities such as summer party and trips out of the house - here you will be approx. 5 volunteers per. major event.
Everything is done so we start up as soon as we have five young volunteers.
Become a volunteer
As a volunteer you have either experienced it yourself, or you have a family or a close friend / friend who has experienced difficulty. This is a requirement for being able to volunteer, as we believe that on the basis of your own experiences, you can meet the young people on the Base with equality, understanding and sparring. This is called peer support. You should be between 16 and 30 years of age, as our offer is based on young-to-young.
What does it mean to have had a hard time or to have someone close to you who has had a hard time? It's really up to you to define - as long as you feel you have some personal experience that you can use to support others.
The base is in Birkerød, but you may want to come from elsewhere - we like to pay for your transport so that the economy does not become a barrier.
We hope you want to give the young people on the base some good experiences with us :)
