Asylum United is a small voluntary association with great ambitions. We already hold training for women at two asylum centers in Zealand and on one in Jutland. Now we are looking for volunteers to help train women who use Welcome House in Valby, which is a meeting place for refugees who have been granted a residence permit.
In all its simplicity, we play soccer with a playful approach with refugee women of various ages, firstly to have fun in some circumstances that are not normally, and secondly to strengthen women, give them confidence and belief in themselves as equal, cool individuals.
We are currently seeking young, voluntary women for weekly training with adult, female refugees. As a volunteer you must be able to participate in training at Welcome House in Valby at least twice a month. Although the starting point is football training, it is definitely not a requirement that you are skilled at football. Many of the women have never played before, so the primary focus is on creating a space for the women, where they can have fun and at the same time get a lot of moves. Sports practitioners and other strength / fitness exercises thus occupy just as much as actual football exercises.
The training is fixed every Saturday afternoon from 10 am. 14-15. We will, however, be present half an hour before and after actual training, as we emphasize conversation and relationships with the women highly.
As Asylum United is a new initiative at Welcome House, you will have ample opportunity to help develop the training. In addition, we have a great focus on socializing, both with the other volunteers and the women. The overall goal is that everyone has a fun and good experience - both volunteers and the women we play with. As a volunteer you will also participate in events such as Roskilde Festival, Folkemødet on Bornholm and other great tournaments we are invited to.
Does that sound like something for you? Then send us a short application with a little about yourself and your motivation. You will then be contacted by a member of the board who can answer all your questions :-)
We look forward to hearing from you.
