Among the organisations and initiatives, you will find a very broad range of purposes, histories, traditions, participants and so on. Some organisations are old with rich traditions and backgrounds and some have just recently been founded and are still finding its legs. Some organisations operate only locally while others work nationally or even globally.
In one association they are just a few people who meet up every Tuesday to fiddle with radios while another organisation has thousands of members who actively seek to promote a more climate-friendly agenda.
Danish associations are diverse:
- More than 50 % focus on culture, leisure activities, or sport
- 14 % concern themselves with education, social services, or health.
- 13 % are local community associations
- 18 % are trade-unions or taking an interest in politics, environment, religion etc.
